Best Hot Spot Restaurants in Kalihi-Palama

We tried Livestock Tavern for the first time tonight, having initially avoided it due to concerns about the safety of the surrounding neighborhood. We were really glad we that we finally went, and totally regret not trying this exceptional restaurant earlier!! The food, drinks, and service were outstanding (even the foodies in our group raved), and we thoroughly enjoyed all the yummy appetizers and the wonderful entrees. The Brussels and Pumpkin app was entirely and enthusiastically eaten, and as far as entrees go, the prime rib, mushroom risotto, crab ravioli, and the steaks all exceeded expectations. (side note the neighborhood is greatly improved compared to a few years ago). We definitely will be back!!!

We sat in the large patio area outside. It was very pleasant, with balmy weather and light trade winds, and we liked the live music (a solo guitarist/singer). We ordered from the Happy Hour menu and the food and drinks were inexpensive. Even though the restaurant was busy we were served quickly. My friend ordered the local shrimp and chips and I had the tempura fish and chips. Our waitress brought us a small glass of Prosecco (no charge) before our meal arrived. The food was delicious and well prepared. The coating on the seafood was light and crispy (not greasy). The service was excellent. Shout outs to our pleasant and friendly waitress Mahina and to the host Kody. We liked the restaurant so much we came back for dessert the same evening after we attended a music event!

The Podmore is a gem of a place! It is a gorgeous space with staff that are kind and thoughtful. That attentiveness is part of the menu too: it is simply one of the best places in Honolulu for a creative and tasty cocktail; the food too is wonderful. I go every few months with a friend or when friends are in town and each time, we have a delightful experience. Top-notch!

Absolutely one of the best meals I’ve had on the island so far. Lifelong food enthusiast who has traveled all over the world for the best food. This was certainly one of the better meals I’ve ever had, clearly the best on the island so far. The atmosphere is incredibly casual for this level of food. And almost all of the servers were exceptional.

It seems the menu should be expanded somewhat  maybe a few more entrees There were four of us and none of us were interested in any of the desserts
