- ACAlexCSan Francisco Bay Area •4 reviews5.0Dined 3 days agoThe Fromosa exceeded every expectation. I thought it would be a tourist trap with mid food, instead the food was top tier, skillfully done, with flavors nicely straddling traditional Chinese American and more authentic Szechuan. I expected the drinks to be overpriced and middle shelf at best, and instead the Mai Tai was the freshest pineapple based cocktail I've ever hat a restaurant, and the Matador was a sharper, more tequla forward option that was just as impressive. I expected the service to be impatient, wanting to turn tables or upsell, and instead it was attentive, careful, and completely supportive. The atmosphere I expected to be tired and overhyped, instead it was a spectacle of historic fabric so well cared-for, lovingly maintained, and immaculate that it may very well be the best vintage restaurant and bar experience on the West Coast. If you love restaurant history,.if you love an atmospheric bar, if you love good food, if you want to step back into the 1940s but minus the cigarette smoke and the canned meal, then this is someplace you will enjoy.More infoFormosa CafePrice: Expensive• Asian• West Hollywood•4.6

- KKarenVIPLos Angeles •13 reviews5.0Dined on 28 Dec 2024Old school steakhouse vibes. Smart casual or dress up for a retro formal not fussy experience, done casually with family familiarity. Food was all excellent - again not fancy or fussy presentation, just good food on a plate. Owners Sophia & Boris set a “everyone is friends” neighborhood vibe, and deliver a lovely experience with warmth and a solid meal. Great for family dinners.
