Executive Chef Clarissa Aguilar helms the kitchen turning out an eclectic menu inspired by local farms and New American cuisine with a focus on seasonal organic produce. The simple yet inventive dishes change frequently, but that’s part of the adventure! Complementing the cooking is a beverage program including cocktails which also rotate seasonally, ranging in taste and complexity from classics like the perfect Old Fashioned to signature concoctions using house made tonics and elixirs. Spanning two floors, Pilar has a variety of spaces to suit your mood. Our first floor bar offers up a casual, comfortable space to down a few drinks in dimly-lit, vintage-inspired surroundings. We enjoyed it so much!! I had the scallops - they were world class. Absolutely perfect. There were three good sized sea scallops and a delicious raita like sauce. I also had the rice and lentil pilaf. It was soul-warming comfort food. We shared the hummus - I was concerned the chili oil would make it too spicy, but it was flavorful, not spicy. Other items included a halloumi flatbread, bone marrow fritter (I don’t remember the actual name), and a stewed eggplant and tomato dish. The meal was started with wonderful fresh bread and an olive oil/balsamic dip. We shared the chocolate Turkish coffee cake for dessert. Do not leave without this cake!! We also had Turkish coffee. The food and the service was all flawless. We had more than we could eat - and the total was $100. Great value for a world class dining experience. We can’t wait to come back next time we are in DC.

We had a lovely dinner, but upstairs was very loud. The combo of crowd voices and loud music made it hard to have a conversation. Drinks were great and fries very tasty. Really enjoyed the Brussell sprouts! Service was good and server very friendly, but felt like she was really in the weeds and therefore unable to pay as much attention to us as she would have liked. But others stepped in to help when she was unable to, so your team was working well together.

Truly fantastic, beginning to end. We opted for the tasting menu and it simply did not miss. Each course was fantastic. Crudo, oyster, and black cod were highlights, along with the gracious and unpretentious service. Easy to see why this is considered one of DC's best restaurants.
