We are centrally located off Hwy. 101 in San Rafael, across for the famous Frank Lloyd Wright Marin Civic Center. La Toscana is a family owned and operated Italian restaurant and bar located in Marin County. It was established in 1985 by Paolo Mori, his wife, Marilyn, and Michele Quilici. The owners all grew up in Lucca, Italy and immigrated to the U.S. in the late 1950s. The service was as good as it gets. Miguel was so attentive. I had the lamb shank. It was excellent! We had the grilled artichoke. It was a little undercooked but everything else was perfect. We were seated in the bar area. It was a tad noisy but there are options for quieter seating. Overall a very good experience. Super friendly and present. I recommend this place!!!

An excellent meal with friendly, attentive service to celebrate Christmas Eve. We especially enjoyed the duck confit, salmon, and Buche de Noel. It was pleasantly quieter than normal as the dining room wasn’t full.

Our food was so delicious. We all had something different and tasted each other’s. From oysters to mussels to prime rib to beef bourgignon, the food was stupendous. The service was good and the general manager Kevin was great! We will be back. It was a lovely Christmas Eve.
