PATIO SEATING IS FIRST COME, FIRST SERVEThe Biltmore Bar & Grille is a modern American restaurant in Newton, MA with a longstanding history. No corporate restaurant chain or Hollywood set designer could ever recreate The Biltmore Vibe. In 1914, the Biltmore opened and served up breakfast and brew at 7AM for the overnight crews from nearby factories. It came with a 4 lane basement bowling alley that was a local hangout for decades. There was talk of a speakeasy during prohibition. The Biltmore was across the street from a regional rail stop and often hosted private events for dignitaries, politicians and celebrities.Much of original brick front and interior has remained the same over the many reincarnations of this legendary bar. The original old growth wood flooring has stood up to many timeless celebrations as well. Celebrating this neighborhood legend while serving up fresh new takes on classic dishes and drinks is what The Biltmore is all about.

Random post workout pick on Christmas Day. Lucked out with a reservation as they have limited seating (49 seats) and are typically quite busy. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating and all work together to make sure you’re well taken care of. The food was exceptional (we definitely over ordered but there were so many exciting options), service was excellent, and the prices were very fair for the portions. I’d recommend ordering lots of options and sharing - take home the leftovers!

The service was thoughtful and attentive without being intrusive, and the wine recommendation was spot on. We ordered oysters—I like them briny and bare—but the cucumber foam on these sweet things was revelatory, very good. We shared the tart, which was fine, but the layers could have been more distinct or more flavorful or something. Squid was great with the two textures. And we shared the fish head, which was fun and delicious. Great sauce with it.

This was a part of birthday week for me 😉 we were on our way to the theatre so didn’t want to be caught up in the prolonged prix fixe dinner upstairs (and frankly at our age we just can’t eat that much at once!!) our waiter Tim was a delight and we had some fun and meaningful convos with him. He was very helpful when we were choosing between drinks (amazing) and small plates (inventive). Each was seasoned to perfection and had a bit of kick and creative flavoring (always in the best way possible). Tim also noticed it was my birthday and when we didn’t care for a sweet (savory person here! 😆) he offered a Peruvian pisco liqueur that we both enjoyed. We also liked the playlist. Festive and charming place! We’ll be back and will recommend. 👍🏽
