A typical food love story. A boy meets a girl while eating pizza. He attends culinary school and open’s a pizza restaurant named after the girl. Thus bringing us to Emily! The Manhattan iteration of the Brooklyn based pizzeria centered around a historic brick oven and comforting food. Emily has earned a following for its signature Detroit-style pies and award winning burger. The pizza here is rectangular (not round) and utilizes the "frico" technique, in which cheese is drizzled on the edges of the pie to create a crispy brown exterior. Beyond the main event, the menu extends to include salads and sandwiches, which shouldn't be ignored (think an attention-grabbing burger and a top-notch spicy fried chicken sandwich). A friend introduced me to this restaurant over the summer and it’s been one of my favorites whenever I come back to NYC to catch up with friends. I love the explosive flavors, delicious cocktails, and the music they played had me bopping my head while eating. Ray was a great waiter checking in to make sure I was enjoying my meal and had everything I needed. I always enjoy my dinners here because the staff is wonderful and gives excellent recommendations.
