Since 1746, the building that houses this tavern has played a part in the establishment of our nation; first as a respite for stagecoach travelers expanding westward and later as a covert rendezvous point for George Washington, Marquis de Lafayette, and other leaders of the American revolution. It is believed that during the infamous winter of 1777–1778 at Valley Forge, a major figure in the Continental Army, master military mind Friedrich Von Steuben, designated the tavern as a secret black powder munitions stash for Continental Army couriers. We had Sunday brunch and it was our first experience at this restaurant! We had a quiet booth which was nice and secluded. Nick our waiter explained the entire menu which was nice that he spent extra time with us. We started with a small loaf of cornbread which was warm with soft butter . We had the Bellini bouquet which was 6 champagne style glasses with three different kinds of Bellinis ! We had lots of fun sampling them. Our breakfast food was outstanding as well as our dessert of pumpkin cake and a sundae! I would definitely come back again for brunch but would like to try lunch or dinner next time .

Always a good choice. The food is reliably very good and it’s always a fun night. Very good waitstaff. Sushi is always the highlight. It’s been in our regular rotation since it opened, but it has lost a bit of its specialness over the years.

Rosalie continues to not disappoint!! We had great service and a delicious dinner!! The branzino is the best around!! So glad they went back to their old recipe with the delicious sides of sweet peppers and eggplant coulis.

Met up with a longtime friend for a long overdue lunch. We chose The Refectory since it was mid way between our two homes. This was the first time each of had dined there and the experience was very enjoyable. Food, service, and atmosphere were all great. Definitely a return visit will be in the works.
