- HHannahManchester/Greater Manchester •1 review5.0Dined 1 day agoWe came for Sunday lunch and we all decided to have the beef. It came and was presented beautifully, it tasted amazing and the beef was very very good, not very fatty or anything and the veggies were so tasty and perfectly cooked. Absolutely worth every penny. Staff were very attentive and friendly and we were seated early as the weather was bad, we were early for our booking. Overall a beautiful eating place with lovely staff and yummy yummy food.More infoThe Star Inn The CityPrice: Expensive• Contemporary British• York•4.5

I appreciate they want to get you in and out but we sat down at 4pm, drinks arrived at 5 past and food arrived at 10 past.. it just seemed so rushed. Unfortunately I am complaining at being made to feel like it was more of a fast food joint, the food obviously didn’t reflect that and was tasty but such a shame we didn’t feel we could enjoy the atmosphere and drinks before food arrived. We were in and out within 50 minutes. Crazy!More infoThe Cut & Craft YorkPrice: Expensive• British• York•4.6

- CChristinaYorkshire •1 review5.0Dined 5 days agoWe ordered the classic (and quite famous) Steak and Ale pie from the menu with a side to share of the mac and cheese. Let me say that I've eaten a lot of pub pies (especially steak & ale!), and this one was definitely the best. It is a large pie, with crisp, golden pastry, with a delish red onion gravy and soft, buttery mash. The beef was generous, cubed and soft and falling apart. Not a speck of hard or crusty fat on the beef to be found (which often detracts from other steak & ale pies I've had). Honestly, delicious! Everything worked together well on the plate. The mac and cheese was full tasty with a salty cheddar sauce. Drinks were spot on with the local cider. The atmosphere in the dining area was pretty chill, the music on the speakers quite eclectic, but overall, it was a pleasant night. Noise level was good without being overwhelming. I appreciate that pre-booked tables were immediately by the front door (it was very cold outside!) or right next to the bar where you're likely to get knocked. Would return for food or drinks again, 100%!More infoGuy Fawkes InnPrice: Expensive• British• York•4.4
