Il Violino was established in 1993 by the Mariani family. They are from Villa Santa Maria, a little town in the heart of Italy (Abruzzo) known as La patria dei cuochi (chefs from this town have been executives at the Vatican, the White House, embassies and top restaurants and cruise lines around the world). Il Violino has been one of the original Lincoln Center Italian restaurants and, in these days, one of the few still in operation. The chef Vincenzo Mariani, formerly the executive chef at Monsignore (one of the top restaurant in New York City in the 70’s and 80’s), leaded the kitchen with his international experience and created an original and innovative Italian menu. We had the pappardelle funghi e tartufo, the spaghetti carbonara, and the rigatoni ala vodka. All the dishes were spot on! Came here for my birthday and I left feeling great with my choice! Service was perfect. If I lived in the city I would eat here often! Near Central Park.

I enjoyed my visit to the Red Rooster yesterday. The temperature, taste and quantity of food was very good. Most of the dishes we experienced was excellent. We tasted several of the menu selections. Loved the deviled eggs, fried chicken and jerk salmon . Service was very professional but friendly. The price for the quality of the food we ate was more than welcomed. I loved my experience at Red Rooster and would choose this restaurant again if I’m in this area again.

If I could give my experience today, 10 stars, I would! Nicole was an amazing server. She was attentive, professional, and very kind. She made my delicious meal a wonderful experience. Additionally, management was personable and professional , and making sure everything ran very smoothly. This was one of my favorite dining experiences at Tavern on the Green. Thank you again Nicole for providing such an impeccable service!

Exceptional service by Sammy, delicious food and a festive ambiance made for a perfect Sunday night pre-Beacon Theater-show dinner. We enjoyed tender short ribs, tasty brick chicken and the quinoa bowl with chicken, followed by crème brûlée and chocolate babka for dessert. And we were only a short walk to the Beacon Theater for our show.
