We are a family owned business located in the centre of York by the River Ouse. Our bar and bistro has gained a reputation for a wide range of beers and spirits coupled with an excellent selection of wines and champagnes. Close to The Grand Opera House and city centre, Plonkers is an ideal place to meet with friends or colleagues for a relaxed drink.Weekends at Plonkers can have a party atmosphere where you can relax after work with friends. Upstairs seats approximately 26 but we can cater for buffets for around 40 people with some standing. Afternoon tea in Betty’s Belmont Room - what a lovely way to spend Christmas Eve. Scrummy food, plentiful refills, relaxing piano playing and absolutely exceptional service from all staff but in particular from Anne who looked after us so well. Thank you everyone.

Family night out for start to Xmas. Easy to reserve table on internet, we turned up a bit early so went for a drink in bar. That was a little more noisier but not too bad. Shown to table in the ‘Snug’ where it was much quieter and food orders taken quite quickly. Food comes owed to order so took a while to arrive but it was worth it, the food was piping hot, well presented and tasted lovely Will definately go back again

Excellent, delicious and beautifully presented dishes. Our server Imogen was very professional and efficient and a credit to the restaurant. The Lobster Thermidor was one of the best I’ve ever eaten. The only negative was the poor service in the hotel bar beforehand. We had to wait quite a while but no one came to take our order even though there were staff behind the bar. In addition, the loud crashing of glass bottles being thrown into the bin behind the bar really spoilt the ambiance, not a great start to the evening sadly
