Beauty & Essex has an innovative design that starts in the restaurant’s entrance, a well-curated modern-day pawn shop replete with a saxophone, boom­box, quirky artifacts, vintage treasures, and an eclectic array of “one-off” pieces of jewelry. Continuing past the pawnshop, guests encounter a grand, circular staircase wrapped around a two-story custom chandelier, but only the adventurous will discover all that Beauty & Essex has to offer. With four distinct dining rooms (one private), two bars, a lounge, and a women’s bathroom complete with a salon including a luxurious sofa, and antique perfume bottles. The cuisine, much like the design, is intended to set a new course.     One of the best experiences I’ve had in New York. Had to book pretty early in advance due to the Valentines Day weekend rush, but got a lovely early afternoon spot. The atmosphere was so elegant & classy. Our waitress Mary Alice was so kind, accommodating, and overall such a pleasure to interact with. Yes it is pricey, but the experience and the quality of the food/tea was well worth it.

    Came here to celebrate valentines. Not only did the waiter go above and beyond, but the whole place was so accommodating. We ended up being the last people there to enjoy our amazing food, great wine selection and wonderful jazz music. 10/10 would come back to this cozy gem

    GET THERE EARLY FOR BRUNCH!!!!! if late, no almond croissant...just other baked goodies...we ate the wonderful baked eggs and the tuna tartare -- delicious and good sized portions. the small wine list is adequate for brunch.` `Our waiter Carlos is super professional, having worked in many multi-star restos.
