Nestled in a 1920s mission-style home in the heart of Houston’s Museum District, Lucille's specializes in well-refined Southern cuisine with infusions of international techniques and flavors. The restaurant serves as a tribute to the culinary tradition began by Executive Chef & Owner Chris Williams’ great-grandmother, Lucille B. Smith, who was a culinary pioneer and successful entrepreneur who founded her own food corporation. Today, the Lucille’s team continues to pay homage to their namesake by replicating some of her most famous recipes while embellishing others to create innovative takes on Southern food classics.

At Rosie Cannonball, we’re serving European comfort food in a lively atmosphere. The restaurant celebrates the origins of cooking through open, live fire and is centered around a wood-burning oven and grill. The menu draws inspiration from individual ingredients: local vegetables, pastas and pizzas, simple seafood and locally-sourced meat cooked over live fire. Master Sommelier June Rodil curated an expansive list of delicious wines with a strong Italian, Spanish and French focus from their favorite producers new and old, along with options from progressive New World producers. The cocktail menu has strong Italian influences, mirroring the focus of the food. Known by generations for her hospitality, proprietress Elouise Adams Jones, a.k.a. Ouisie, serves an eclectic collection of Southern foods with an excellent wine list to match. High ceilings and fans in the main dining room it evoke the ambiance of a Texas manor house. The adjacent dining porch overlooking the patio and garden, as well as Cooper’s Wine Bin, provide additional dining and entertaining areas. The daily fare encompasses traditional offerings like her well-loved pimento cheese, the shrimp and grits, and the popular Gulf Coast oysters to the favorite Tuesday special Ouisie’s award winning chicken fried steak with corn pudding. A fine plate of grilled Prime beef tenderloin or a brace of quail stuffed with super lump crab meat with Cognac glaze are good examples of the daily specials one might find on the blackboard. Lunch and dinner daily, brunch on weekends.

This was our first visit to Lucille’s. Our waiter, Rick is amazing at servicing and hosting others. He shared the menu and directed us to things to try that didn’t disappoint. He treated us with so much grace and kindness. We enjoyed the time he took to get to know us and was so attentive to what our needs were while having dinner. When you visit you must ask for him to be your waiter. You will not regret it. We at the oxtail for the first time it was outstanding. Rick gave us the opportunity to try the bread pudding. Don’t leave without trying it. It was superb. The bread rolls were so good and the fried green tomatoes were excellent. We will visit again on our next visit to Houston. The atmosphere was quiet. The hostess was so sweet and welcoming. Thank you for a great experience.

Ton and Trey were excellent servers and were very warm and welcoming. They took excellent care of us and even had their manager, Todd, help us with an extra question we had. We really appreciated Todd taking the time to talk to us! Probably one of the best times we have been to Graces!
