Both were delicious and beautifully garnished. I had an appetizer special, baked oysters, seasoned to perfection. For my main, I had the slow cooked short rib and it is one of the best I ever had. It was served on a bed of celery mash and bok choy. For dessert I had the passion fruit pineapple coconut cake. I also got to finish my dining companions chocolate peanut bomb. I will definitely be back to try their other offerings. Everything was superb. Highly recommended.More infoEquinox - DCPrice: Expensive• Contemporary American• Downtown•4.8

Our anniversary dinner at Black Salt fits that description. The service was attentive, but not intrusive. The restaurant is open to individual preferences and tweaks. The food was extremely fresh, cooked to perfection, and delicious. Portions were not huge, but satisfying, and beautifully plated. We had oysters, steamed clams, red snapper and fried Ipswich (belly) clams. The oysters were fresh and they had about eight varieties to choose from. The clams were served in a nice garlicky tomatoey broth. The fish was perfectly grilled and lightly seasoned to bring out the flavor. The sides were delicious in themselves. Every vegetable in a medley of mixed vegetables tasted exactly like that vegetable should taste. I suspect they had been cooked and seasoned separately and then joined together at plating. A purée of turnips and parsnips was light and tasty with a nice parsnippy sweetness. A simple salad was fresh and perfectly dressed with a light house vinaigrette. A cranberry orange flan served with a fresh fruit salad completed the meal. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.More infoBlackSaltPrice: Expensive• Seafood• Palisades Northwest•4.8
