Best Pre-Theater Restaurants in Kensington

Tabard Inn is simply the best place to go for brunch/ lunch or a romantic date night dinner on a freezing cold winter day. An English style Inn with warm fireplace in the lounge area and many tables in various nooks and crannies of the dining area. Good bar, professional service and good food. We loved it.

Our server was impeccable. very knowledgeable. There was a family next to us but one person in the party was extremely loud and disruptive. Tainted a very quaint evening for me and my wife. I did not wanted to ruin the moment, but wished someone would have said something to assist him with toning it down. I highly recommend the Bronzino. We also ordered the pre fixe. Great price for the food, service, and ambiance.

This was my second visit to Gypsy Kitchen, and it was just as fantastic as the first! The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, making it a great spot for a night out. Our waiter, Andrew, was excellent—very helpful throughout the dinner, offering great recommendations from cocktails to dessert. We revisited some of our favorites, and they did not disappoint. The hummus is amazing (pro tip: order an extra piece of pita bread). The potato dish and pork shoulder were equally delicious, packed with great flavors. For dessert, we tried the pear tart, which had more of an apple pie texture than a traditional tart, but it was still enjoyable. I also had an Old Fashioned, which was well-made and a great way to round out the meal. Overall, a great experience once again. Highly recommend this spot for excellent food, drinks, and service!

Our visit to Matera was very pleasant from the greeting by the friendly Hostess to the great Waiter who was perfectly attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was nice and probably a little more quiet for our after 8 pm reservation. I would say that the food was very well presented. For starters, the Salad was elegant and generous, the Filet Mignon was cooked correctly but was the only disappointment as it was a lower grade than I would expect. The Tiramisu was exceptional and maybe one the best I've had. I recommend Matera and will come back to try the regular menu.

Had a very special Valentine’s Dinner last night, excellent service and the food was next level. Beautifully decorated and wonderful ambiance!
