It's hard to leave a view when you're left speechless.. Let's start with the welcome - front of house staff dressed in uniform cream, each with their own defined and welcoming personality; no pressure to go for the tasting menu, but when you're told that it 'just keeps coming,' it's hard to resist. An informed sommelier tells you that the wine list changes each week and are responsibly sourced - this adds to the mix. And then the dishes do indeed keep coming - and what dishes they are. Victor Garvey is in many ways a summation of all the great restaurants in which he's worked - French Laundry, El Bulli etc.. This is, for me, the best place no just in London, but Europe... and it's just getting started...

Lovely London night out in a great traditional venue. Your coat is taken as soon as you arrive and you are handed a numbered token, then the Maitre d (the owner) welcomes you at the entry desk letting you know when your table is ready. You are then taken through into one of several lovely old fashioned but well maintained rooms and seated at your table. You are presented with the menu which is all classic French fare - bisque, crab mayonnaise, pate etc, with mains including halibut, duck confit, cassoulet, lobster and more. The wine list is not extensive, but affordable with red wines from memory priced at between the late £20’s up to £300, so not too bad for a central london location. Desserts are also lovely pear and apple tart, tarte de citron and so on. All relatively simple dishes but cooked perfectly from my experience and that of my fellow guests. A lovely, classic London night out. We will be back.
