Campisi's Downtown is owned and operated by David Campisi and his family. The restaurant has a long and storied history, beginning in 1946 when David's great-grandfather bought a bar with a small kitchen and began making pizzas - the first ever in Dallas. Today, Campisi's Downtown still makes its famous pizza (you can even build your own if you like), and also serves up a huge array of pasta dishes, salads, appetizers and entrées.     We had a reservation for 4 at 7:30 PM on a Friday and were seated promptly. Service as usual was very good and personable. The food was excellent, with winners of 4 different dishes among the 4 of us. As usual, I had my favorite, the bouillabaisse, which comes with the usual assortment of fresh fish and shellfish in a delectable tomato-based "soup." Be sure to ask for extra bread! We were greeted graciously by the maitre d' who has known me for years. He has always been attentive and accommodating. I highly recommend Toulouse!

    While still a good dining experience, I was expecting much more. I felt it was vastly overpriced and their signature dishes (Chicken Parmesan and Pasta Vodka) left a lot to be desired. Service was extremely courteous, but excruciatingly slow. It’s good to go and check off the box, but I won’t be frequenting.
