Best Restaurants with a Happy Hour in Lihue

We loved Gaylord’s. The food was plentiful And absolutely delicious. He highly recommend making it a stop on your itinerary if your are visiting Kauai.

Jay is THE MAN! We had a reservation at 8:30pm for Valentine’s Day and arrived about an hour early to see if they could get us in earlier. We were told no at first due to being fully booked so we got a drink at the bar to wait and hang out until our table was ready. Jay, who appeared to be either a barback or busser, took care of us immediately with his warm and funny charm and asked us if we’d like to sit and eat early. Of course we said yes, so he cleared off a table with lightning speed and in our opinion it was the best seat in the house. It overlooked the cliff and pool area right behind the bar and he was super attentive to us the entire time and ended up being our waiter the whole night. He was super funny, professional, and helpful during our entire meal experience and I would like to give him a huge shout out to making our dinner one to remember. Thank you Jay!

Wonderful Valentine’s Day experience. My wife and I were both disappointed that the veal shipment did not come in but quickly pivoted to the same preparations we wanted, but with chicken. My wife had the chicken Marsala and I had the chicken with the porcini sauce. The sides that came with both dinners were excellent with the au gratin potatoes, carrot soufflé and fresh veggies. Both were excellent. My wife topped off dinner with a caramel custard and I had the profiteroles which was a delightful way to end our evening.

This is the best place to view the sunset so get there early for a drink and a spot on the lawn. It attracts a crowd so be prepared for the hunt for a parking spot! We came to this restaurant 40 years ago and now I remember why I remember! The drinks, service, and food were outstanding. The menu is somewhat limited but I suppose that’s why everything is expertly prepared and delivered piping hot to the table! Our server was so helpful and friendly in describing the dishes. To top it off we shared a coconut crème brûlée. A must. There is a respectable wine list both by the glass and bottle. If we lived here, it would be a favorite spot!

Enjoy the restaurant, was not super busy. The service was excellent . Our server was Marites she was lovely and very attentive to our needs. She had great knowledge about the menu. We had a great conversation about wine. She had good knowledge and recommendations and the reason why. We ordered appetizers shrimp. We ordered pasta and pork. We would order again. The price was fair portions are on large size. Did not order dessert.
