Best Comfort Food Restaurants in Fresh Meadows

We had a terrific server, and the staff was attentive. We liked that the patrons were of all ages — not just stuffy UES folks. The ambiance was good (though a bit too noisy), and the neighborhood needs more restaurants like this. Every seat seemed filled. The menu, however, was too limited (too basic; too much fried or heavy comfort food) and needs to expand to offer “lighter,” healthier - and more creative offerings. And even the existing healthier offerings could be tweaked: for example, the chopped salad (for me) was ruined by too many green olives. Balance was needed. The price points are high. Cheesy garlic bread — at $19? Yikes. The wine list was pricey as well, with all bottles $70+. Look: this is a potentially excellent restaurant that needs to make adjustments, but worth a visit in the meantime.

This was the first time we’d been to Alessandro’s since it was redone. Not for lack of interest; just a tough reservation to get! But it sure was worth the effort. The pace looks great, the service was as good as always and the food was better than I remembered. Best artichoke salad and chicken scarparella! Already can’t wait to go back. Bonus, Alessandro is the lost wonderful host. Always makes it a point to come say hi.

It is our family's annual tradition to go to tavern 18 for Christmas Eve dinner!! We always get our favorite table and the service, food and staff are wonderful. We are grateful for this family tradition.

Over all great except we never got Bread to the table

Our whole party enjoyed very tasty meals! A very nice and quaint place.
