Located in the heart of downtown, The Esquire Tavern is the oldest bar on the San Antonio Riverwalk, opened the year, month and day that Prohibition was repealed. Tending bar in the early days was a highly prized and much sought after craft. Bar keeps then created many of their own syrups, mixes and concoctions and used the freshest of juices with the intention of serving the best products. We at the Esquire have taken a serious approach to the old world of bartending and spun it with a modern twist. Combining classic techniques and new world flavors and culinary concepts, our goal is to lead and set San Antonio's emerging cocktail culture on the map.

In 2018, chef Jennifer Hwa Dobbertin, wanting to address the sparsity of Asian-American female chefs in South Texas, developed a new concept through a series of pop-up dinners called Best Quality Daughter with fellow chef Anne Ng and artist Jennifer Ling Datchuk. Today Best Quality Daughter is located in the historic Mueller House at the Pearl Brewery. Curated by chef Jennifer Hwa Dobbertin, Best Quality Daughter's menu takes inspiration from her travels and the comfort food of her youth as a second-generation Chinese-American.

Burgers were phenomenal as always, server was exceptional however when other staff were asked for help for something as simple as a salt and pepper shaker, they decided to get our server instead of just bringing them. But beyond that still BeST Burgers in SA!!!

What an amazing Thanksgiving feast! We thought we’d be choosing 1 starter, 1 entree & 2 sides from the Ambler Thanksgiving menu, but know, we were served EVERYTHING ON THE MENU. Our server, Francisco, was extremely attentive & obviously a very professional experienced waiter, we wanted for nothing and thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the great food, ambiance & service!

Had dinner at Tokyo Cowboy on our first night in SA for Thanksgiving Week vacay (4 adults incl. my 75 y.o. mom). We all found the food to be delicious and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. Great flavors, creative menu made well and with high quality ingredients. The favorites of the table were the Brisket Egg Roll, Blistered Green Beans and Crispy Karaage Chicken. We also had the Spicy Pork Belly and Gulf Shrimp & Noodles, which were also really good. For a modern, high-concept restaurant right on the Riverwalk, I was really pleasantly surprised at our total bill - IMO the value for your $ can't be beat. (Though we're from SF & NY and perhaps used to higher restaurant prices.) I enjoy trying creative cocktails tho I don't drink alcohol outside of dining out. I ordered the Cobra Kai, which had great flavor, though was a bit too strong alcohol-wise for me, but was polished off by the rest of the table to great enjoyment. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and dine here again.
