Sai serves authentic Punjabi cuisine with tandoor cooking a speciality. The spice range is broad, from minimal to high levels and vegetables forming the backbone of the menu. Wheat is the staple food of Punjabis; however, they do enjoy eating rice at festivals and other special occasions. When it comes to food, each region within Punjab has an entirely different preference, for example, people in Amritsar are particularly fond of stuffed parathas and milk products. The philosophy of life for many Punjabis is to eat, drink and make merry. They are lively people who are extremely fond of eating good food. In the preparation of Punjabi food, onion, ginger and garlic are used extensively to enhance the taste of the food.**NEW***SUNDAY BRUNCH 11am to 3pm, try Indian street food from different part of India with unlimited KADAK CHAI.****LUNCH****Now open for lunch Tuesday-Saturday 12-3pm. Poppie’s is renowned for authenticity – and it’s little wonder, with born and bredEast-end proprietor, Pat ‘Pop’ Newland, at the helm. Pop’s career in the fish and chip business started in 1952 when, aged 11, he got a job on Roman Road cutting up copies of The Daily Mirror to wrap fish and chips in. With decades of experience behind him, ‘Pop’ founded Poppie’s. The shops are filled with retro memorabilia from Pop’s childhood, The uniforms channel a 1950s vibe, and the music is tailored to each shop. Dining in one of Pops restaurants is an experience with retro vibes and iconic looks from the decades. For instance, Seventies Formica and Anaglypta wallpaper will be just one of many pieces of kitsch decor on show.

We dined at Poppies in Camden on the final evening of our recent visit to London, and it was the perfect way to end our trip. This place truly sets the bar for excellent food and service. The fish and chips were simply exceptional—crispy, golden batter on the outside and perfectly cooked, flaky fish on the inside. Every bite was bursting with flavor, and the chips were just as they should be: thick-cut, fluffy, and delicious. Their signature tartar sauce was a delightful accompaniment, completing what can only be described as the quintessential British fish and chips experience. The service was outstanding. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome, ensuring that our meal was flawless. They were attentive without being intrusive and exuded warmth and professionalism that made the dining experience all the more enjoyable. The atmosphere at Poppies is charming and nostalgic, with a vintage vibe that adds to its appeal. It’s clear that this is a place with a passion for quality food and a love for tradition. Overall, Poppies Camden deserves nothing less than an excellent rating. Whether you're a local or just visiting London, this is a must-visit spot for authentic fish and chips. We left with full stomachs and happy hearts, and we will absolutely return on our next trip to London!

A little bit haphazard in service as I think the place is new, but the waiting staff & food were amazing Different to the ‘usual’ Indian restaurant cuisine The 50% off food is crazy for a weekend booking but shows they’re really trying to make a success of it - and I hope they do Superb lads on the floor, knowing the menu/food, prepared to tailor things
