Best Authentic Restaurants in Kula

Solid list of Italian wines (order off the list, glass pours are the usual boring types and names). Food was a bit Americanized in portion size, sauciness, and composition, but an Italian would happily eat here. Ingredients were top notch and super fresh. Very accommodating for gluten intolerance. Service was really great.

Absolutely delicious Italian food with all home made pasta and wood burning pizza. We had each ;) We took our 3 little children here for dinner last night for Valentine’s Day and it was loud and energetic, and we loved it!! It’s an Italian place, c’mon!! The service was the best we’ve had on island- as it always is, and the food came out piping HOT- the way we like it! There are no complaints! We didn’t have to worry about our kids being too loud bc it’s an energetic restaurant that had live music. Our night couldn’t have been any better. We will definitely return.

Wonderful friends gave us a gift card for Makawao Public House as we often raved about the wonderful meals we enjoyed there . As usual it didn’t disappoint. We tried the seared sashimi for the 1 st time and it was to die for . However you need to include a straw with the sauce so you can drink it all up as it is just phenomenal 😜 .Then we ordered the curry vegetables with grilled mahi and the short ribs , again it was cooked to perfection. Everything paired with a glass of Rose champagne and we had the best Valentine dinner . We had an early dinner reservations, so it was quiet , the waitress was lovely ,sweet and personable. We are so happy to have another restaurant choice upcountry. Mahalo

We didn’t know what to expect, however we were pleasantly surprised. From the moment we arrived we knew it was going to be different. We were greeted by a gracious host and offered the opportunity to don traditional Moroccan attire over our street clothes. The decor appeared very authentic and comfortable. The food comes as Prix Fixe 6 course menu. Each dish brought more unique ingredients and flavors to the table. We were allowed a choice of four proteins and we chose the lamb. It was tender and delicious with a plum sauce. Many vegetables were served in the various dishes. In all this was a wonderful food experience. We will be back the next time in Maui

Just make the drive here. The locals and frequent travelers to Maui already know about this fabulous restaurant…but if you are a newbie, please “just do it”.. you will not regret it. We have been coming to HGS 1-2 times a year for decades. I cannot imagine traveling to Maui without at least one stop here for lunch or dinner. It’s no longer the original owner, however we’ve been back at least five times since the sale and the quality of food is still exemplary! The dining here far exceeds any other place on the island. The ribs have always been a favorite, along with the mahi mahi ….. and the appetizers are spectacular. We are not typically dessert foodies, however you cannot leave here without sharing the award winning Pineapple Upside down cake. Thank you, Franchesco, for stopping by our table to chat !
