Fang is the sister restaurant of wildly popular restaurant, House of Nanking. Fang embodies both modern and authentic Chinese cuisines in a fine dining setting serving traditional Chinese fare, dim sum, as well as "off the menu" innovative dishes for the adventurous. Chef Peter Fang believes that good-tasting food is universal and should not be bound by how dishes were made in the past. With Chef Peter’s trademark inventiveness and eye for quality, the menu evolves and changes based on seasonally fresh ingredients from the same local Chinatown markets Peter has visited for decades. For fresh seasonal Chinese food in an elegant and modern setting, visit Fang.

Fang is solid. Relaxed, comfortable, welcoming. The legend sitting at his table. It feels like family. And the focus seems to be getting people fed in a good way, with well executed dishes, customized/negotiated/improvised tasting menus, and lots of kindness.

FANG is always an amazing experience. We visited with family from out of town and we were so grateful to Chef Peter for creating an amazing stream of dishes served family style for us. Beyond the amazing food, the atmosphere and people are what make FANG truly special.

I took my 81 yo Cantonese mom to FANG for lunch. While she loves to eat out, she is notoriously judgmental, especially when it comes to Chinese food. She LOVED the meal! Upon arriving, we were greeted by the Chef/ Owner Cathy Fang, who spoke to my mom in fluent Cantonese. We described our dietary preferences and allergies and let her design a menu for us. The surprise element was really fun. Some of the dishes seemed to be menu items, but others were not listed: 1. Wok fried noodles -- Outstanding. Hot from the wok, the noodles were scented with "wok hei". The tender vegetables were bright and just done. A common dish, but perfectly executed. 2. Fish soup with glass noodles and tofu. -- Delicious. The broth was richly flavored, yet still light. The dish was served in a clay pot over a flame to keep it warm. 3. Spare ribs with zucchini -- Outstanding. What impressed us was the contrasting texture of the dish. The meat was succulent and came off the bone easily, but the crust was crispy. Mom was impressed with the technique. 4. Savory egg custard with cherrystone clams -- My personal favorite. My mom made a basic version of this dish for us growing up without the clams. The textures and flavors of the egg and clam really worked well together. The whole dish was beautifully presented in a ceramic dish with flames underneath to keep it hot. 5. Shrimp and apple skewer -- very good. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and the sweetness of the apple added a nice contrast 6. Pork belly in bao wraps -- My German husband's favorite. The pork belly was perfectly cooked and dressed in a sweet mustard sauce. The most Asian fusion flavor profile on our table. 7. Mini Sesame Balls -- Kid thumbs up. We were too stuffed to eat these, but took them home, where my son devoured them after school. Really memorable meal. The biggest compliment I can give is that we plan to return and bring the whole family. Thank you Chef Cathy and FANG staff.

Wow has this place gone downhill. The food was sickly sweet and heavy. Used to eat here all the time. Won’t be going back.

Always a wonderful experience with a large group because the Fang team provides a variety of dishes that they recommend so you never know what is coming next. I have never been disappointed. I will say that the service leaves something to be desired. The team does not regularly check on to see if everything is ok nor offer a second round of drinks. At the end of the meal you really have to make an effort to request the check as nobody comes to offer dessert or anything.

Great experience. The food was innovative and over the top delicious. Had a chance to chat with Kathy. The staff (including her dad) were great. Only critique....they should take a day and really clean up and organize the place...stacks of cups, plates, etc. everywhere. The bar, which is a nice size, full service bar, couldn't be used because it was being used as a staging area for glassware, plates, etc. That's a shame.
