   My wife and I had lunch today to celebrate our 52nd anniversary. We shared the Dolmathes which were wonderful. My wife had an off menu item which was a phyllo packet filled with chicken, spinach and herbs which she loved. I had the Moussaka and wished there was a little more eggplant, but it was a very wonderful dish with the herbs and yogurt béchamel. My wife topped her meal off with the Baklava and I had the Galaktoboureko. We enjoyed both of them. We be back for more good eats.

   Fantastic food, great service, just a touch loud for normal conversation. Good cocktails as well, no menu just order what you want from the bar.

   Delicious lunch! The lamb skewer was delicious and cook perfectly. Oven prawns in appetizer was tasty with the right touch of hot spices. Moussaka was well prepared. Overall it was a very tasty meal.

   Delicious food and good ambience. We ordered the greek salad and lamb riblets (highly recommended) for starters, and lamb burger and butter squash ravioli for main. Food wasn’t too heavy and was delicious. Will be back.

   The food is fabulous and the service as well. Thoroughly enjoyable evening. Waitstaff even plated shared dishes beautifully. Loved everything about the evening. Too bad it’s so hard to get a reservation but totally understandable!

   So since Evvia opened in Palo Alto, we have been regulars. For the last 20 some years. Today was our 38th anniversary and we booked a late lunch. This visit was the first time in all those years we left disappointed. He food is always superb however, today we ordered several appetizers in place of traditional meals. We told our waiter, Antonio, that was the plan and how we wanted them ordered. First was Brussel sprouts, in the menu it described them with olive oil lemon bacon and herbs. They killed them. They use prosciutto not bacon, the cut it into cubes… what? And render it soft using that salty fat with BUTTER and over cooked them to a squishy oily porky salty mass. Very overpowered by the cooked prosciutto… yuck. We sent it back. Tzatziki, zucchini chips and saganaki are always on point. We asked that our two orders of riblets and Evvia potatoes last after the others. They brought the potatoes by themselves ice cold and dry. If you’ve ever had the potatoes, they are always hot and moist with the special lemon olive oil and oregano yumminess. The lamb riblets have always been decadent, good sized juicy and tender. We asked for new potatoes when the riblets took an additional :20 mins to come out. Today, the day we wanted riblets instead of a main, they were super small two bite riblets. The waiter was non plussed. In the end we will go back, it’s our favorite, but on our special day, which was also overlooked and not celebrated, we were sad.

    We go to Evvia for special celebrations and are never disappointed. They pay extra attention to gluten free, making it a safe option for anyone with Celiac disease.
