In the 20th century times were simpler, dining out was reasonable, the service was excellent and cooking was an art. My staff and I have tried to capture that ambiance of simple elegance. Our traditional values extend even further: There are no heat lamps or microwaves in our kitchen. Save your $$. Where do I start? Hostesses: no welcome just a stern look and a "yes?" when we walked in. Music: Nirvana "Smells like Teen Spirit" - very classy. Drink Order: ordered an Old fashioned ($15). See pic. Pic shows when it arrives. Hardly anything in the glass. Food: menu suggests ordering medium well due to "marbling". Took their advice and ended up with beef jerky. Sides: how about small cup of $13 cold "Spinach Rockefeller". No bread which is odd for a steakhouse. Server was nice - gets an extra star. $150 for two. NOT WORTH IT.

Outstanding experience. The food was absolutely amazing. The server was very attentive, friendly, informative about the menu, and made excellent suggestions. I would say this is the best restaurant in Lubbock. We are not drinkers and while they emphasize their alcoholic beverages, there was no pressure to order alcohol. It's a great restaurant for special occasions and they make you feel very welcome. You will leave Double Nickel feeling taken care of.

Hostesses (4 in all) were rude, dismissive and honestly thought they weren’t going to seat us. Seemed annoyed that we were there. I had a reservation, polite and dressed appropriately but they were very rude. I just wanted to celebrate my daughter’s graduation from college - seemed unnecessary to be rude and ignore us while friendly with other Patrons.
