Best Sushi Restaurants in Mesa

My favorite restaurant in Arizona! Absolutely love coming here and never have any bad experiences. Love love love this place!

The only disappointment was the miso soup. Whatever the base stock was supposed to be the soup tasted like warm water. The maguro and hamachi sashimi were excellent as was the tempura combo basket. California roll was tasty and fresh and they even custom made a shrimp tempura roll to order. Service was top notch. Ambience was like a busy Sushi house should be.

My wife, and our son and his girlfriend, had dinner at Shimogamo Chandler to celebrate our son’s first job. For the first time, we ate at a table, instead of at the sushi counter. Our server, Micah, was terrific. She clearly knew the restaurant, the menu, the food and the drinks. We started with an excellent sake, Ippongi Daiichi Gitai, that was presented by the bar manager, Matt. We ordered a huge assortment of mostly nigiri sushi; Madai (Sea Bream), Mejina (Opaleye Nigiri), Kamasu (Barracuda Nigiri), Kinmedai (Goldeneye Snapper), Aji (Jack Mackerel), Umi Masu (Ocean Trout), Hotate (Sea Scallop), Anago (Sea Eel), Ama Ebi (Sweet Shrimp), Baja Uni (Sea Urchin Sashimi), Santa Barbara Uni (Sea Urchin Gunkan). Micah had the chefs course our fish selections perfectly. After the sushi, we had the Hatcho Miso Duck, Yuzu Mushroom and Fried Shishito Peppers. For dessert, my son and I tried the Harvest in Uji and Matcha Hai cocktails. Everything we had to eat and drink was delicious. If I had known that they had Kakigori (Japanese Shave Ice) for dessert, I would have saved room for it. That’s one more reason to return for another meal, I guess.

Absolutely fabulous meal with outstanding service! Olivia helped us navigate the menu and ordered for us. The meal was perfect!! Great selection, amazing combination of tastes and textures, all delicious. Each time a dish was brought to the table, it was explained and then they would repeat how the food allergies were respected. It gave me great confidence the chefs were listening as they prepared food that was like great art! Loved it!

Ate here many times but this was the best it’s ever been. Probably due to a newer manager. Food quality was great. Quick, efficient service and the sweet manager took our picture and printed for us. A really nice touch!
