- DDaleVirginia •5 reviews5.0Dined 1 day agoHad an early Christmas dinner here and everything was very nice. We sat at the bar. The cheesesteak egg rolls as an appetizer are extremely good. They had a butternut squash disc that was also very flavorful, and some of the best I have had. The Bronzino fish dish was also very good with a hint of fennel and citrus, which was very complementary to the fish . Service was pleasant and efficient , We would definitely go againMore infoDel Frisco's Grille - PhiladelphiaPrice: Expensive• Steakhouse• Rittenhouse Square•4.2
- MMichaelPhiladelphia County •10 reviews5.0Dined 3 days agoWow! This was an awesome experience! As a fan of the Rocky film series, I knew about this place from the Rocky Balboa and Creed films. It is so much more than that, though. As the founder was a major player in early 20th century opera recordings, The Victor Cafe has an opera theme permeating its soul. The walls are adorned with photos of the opera greats, opera music plays softly in the background, and, most importantly, the waitstaff are all classically-trained opera performers. Every half hour or so, they gather everyone’s attention to perform a selection from a popular opera, complete with a synopsis of the story they’re about to tell through their performance. Every performer was wonderful and this made for a unique, joyful and memorable experience for my family. I grew up on Italian cuisine, and this was among the best I’ve had in a long time. We shared the Calamari Fritti, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that we could have substituted Smelts for the calamari. This was a staple of our Christmas Eve dinners when I was young. My Veal Saltimbocca was perfect, as was my Daughter’s Prince Igor (penne with a vodka blush, salmon, tomato, and Asparagus). We enjoyed our cannolis while watching our last performance of the evening. Breathtaking! Special shout out to our server, Brenna, who took our dessert order mere seconds after completing her duet! Remarkable! I can’t say enough about The Victor Cafe; if you’re looking for a classic South Philly Italian Restaurant, paired with one of the most wonderful and unique experiences you’ll find today, then this is the place for you.More infoThe Victor Cafe - PhiladelphiaPrice: Moderate• Italian• South Philly•4.9
- LLaurenPhiladelphia County •2 reviews5.0Dined on 18 Dec 2024Came here to celebrate my birthday and we absolutely loved it. On the expensive side but so worth it. We had the dynamite sushi roll and a special sushi roll of the night and they were probably one of the best we’ve eaten, very fresh and flavorful. The special 28oz tomahawk was perfectly charred and so juicy. And the lobster Mac tied it all together, so amazing and cheesy with a whole lobster on top. They gave us a free desert for my birthday, which we got the warm butter cake and all I can say is wow… such an amazing desert. And to top it all off, our server Allegra, was impeccable. So attentive, made great recommendations, and did not miss a beat. All staff were super nice and made my birthday celebration great.More infoOcean Prime - PhiladelphiaPrice: Very Expensive• Seafood• Center City•4.7
- RRobertSan Francisco Bay Area •1 review5.0Dined on 18 Dec 2024The food is great but this review is pointless, as Devon Seafood Grill will be closing in a few weeks. The opening was a toasty lobster & crab salad roll sandwich, followed by the mixed seafood grill: shrimp, scallops, salmon, crab cake & grilled asparagus. All was seasoned & cooked to perfection. The side dish, king crab fried rice was a letdown. It was over-salted and tasted much strongly of bacon than crab. Surprise: the champagne was half-price (going out of business sale?) and the final coffee was freshly brewed & excellent. Bottom line: Typically expensive for Center City Philly, but the food was first-rate and the ambience was elegant but relaxing. I'm disappointed my first visit to DSG will also be my last. So I guess if you can get there in the next -2weeks, I say "treat yourself." Otherwise, hope the next restaurant to fill the space serves food of similar quality.More infoDevon Seafood Grill - PhiladelphiaPrice: Expensive• Seafood• Rittenhouse Square•4.4
