i enjoy jokbal bokkeumbap at sikdang, but renovating until jan 2025. a compassionate friend found songho, a soft opening restaurant. it's in tenderloin, so my bud & i brave the neighborhood during a day trip. menu state jokbal bookeumbap, but restaurant only prepare it when accumulated sufficient jokbal shavings. so, my craving had me made a 2nd visit... this time an evening trip. the evening area is quite an eye-opening to appreciate you have a wonderful life. aye, still not serving the entree. i felt let down, but behaved with grace. i'm in support of 3 strikes. anyways, it's advantageous their other entrees well-compensates not fulfilling my craving. my companions shared in our enjoyable meals. at this writing, i had enjoyed 3 of their meat entrees, twice haemul pajeon. ps...i prepare homestyle korean, but hung up my family cook's hat 2024. i grew up eating out nationwide & worldwide. korean in bay area had been so-so. as a cook, my palate is ultra discerning. sungho impressed me by far, offering me my preference comfort foods. without a doubt, the chef loves cooking & proudly serve only the best of his ability to his customers. yes, there are culinary chefs or cooks, but not all embrace the art of cooking well. yea, i'll be back....

Incredible meal! Everything we had was so flavorful and special. Very easy plates to share for two people, and we came out full and satisfied. Our server was also great, service was quick and attentive. Our absolute favorite orders were the rice cakes and steak tartare, but everything off the menu was delicious. We will be sure to come again another time.

The decor is so well done and the restaurant looks amazing! The quality of meat was superb as well. Drinks were tasty and the drink menu was extensive. My one qualm is we had a reservation for 6 guests and we were seated at a large table with another party. Usually they give separate tables or even a divider so it was def a diff experience. They also had private party rooms that weren’t in use for the duration we were there. We ordered 3 diff types of meat and all were so yummy. Give the yukhoe a try. It’s so well presented. And the dwaengjang jiggae was so perfectly seasoned. Overall the food, drinks, and vibes were great!
