One of our favourite local spots always very good food and quite reasonably priced in view of the quality. Service is always fast and friendly. On this occasion they took the trouble to call me back and let me know the table was available earlier than the booking following my earlier request.

We went for a tasting menu, it was absolutely stunning. Every dish, every mouthful was am explosion of flavours. It was my husband's 40th, they also included a lovely dessert with a candle at the end. They were incredibly sweet. The waitress who served us, unfortunately I do not recall her name was so pleasant. Loved the ambience, food, and service.

The food was excellent except for the tempura starter which I wouldn’t order again because it was rather greasy. This is our third time here over the past year but this time the service was not as good. There was a fairly young man who seemed very new and not to appear to know the menu offerings. More disappointing was his complete lack of knowledge about sake. We ordered the four sake tasting (£20 pp) and he didn’t know which one we should pair with each dish nor could he tell us anything about the sake. I can appreciate he might be learning but why he couldn’t call on a more experienced member of staff to briefly describe the four sakes is a mystery. Although pleasant, he didn’t seem at all interested in learning nor curious about food. Once the plates were cleared he didn’t ask if we wanted dessert or more to drink. After waiting 20 minutes we just decided to pay and leave. This is a good restaurant with mostly excellent quality food and many menu items but on this one night it was let down by a very inexperienced staff member.
