Best Hawaii Regional Cuisine Restaurants in Kaimuki

Had a great dinner, we had steak it was excellent. The view was perfect. Ocean our server was perfect, friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and enjoyed conversation about Honolulu. Would recommend to dine here. Our dinner with drinks ran 1 1/2 hours. We had a reservation, arrived about 10 minutes early, we were seated immediately. Enjoyed the evening.

It's been a long while since I last came here. I believe is was shortly before 2019's unfortunate pandemic. Anyways, my expectations were surpassed from my memories. The food and service tonight were quite excellent and my birthday dinner guest really enjoyed herself. I, myself, only had 2 of the drinks and had a little of all the food except the Seafood Medley and Oysters. Spiced Apple Crisp: 9/10. I personally really enjoyed this. It had a nice crisp crust and the apples were still not too cooked or soft so it had great textures. The mix of flavors went well together for a great finish to the meal. Melting Hot Chocolate Souffle: 10/10. This is the trademark dessert that should always be eaten at least once. I can't describe how happy I get when I have some (or all). Must have. Coffee Creme Brulee: 7/10. It was good, but we had the Souffle and the crisp. It was outdone and I felt bad for it. I had good flavor and the Biscotti was a nice addition. Espresso Martini: 8/10. I'm not really a coffee drinker so I don't often try something like this. I personally could drink several if it wasn't work in the morning tomorrow. Butterfish Kamameshi: 9/10. Not a traditional kamameshi. It does have the right amount of ingredients to be considered a kamameshi but they are all on top of the rice. I felt this was a pretty interesting take and the butterfish itself was quite tasty. Tender Beef Shortribs: 9/10. Like the name states, they are very tender (boneless!) Shortribs with a nice vegetable Medley. I admit that I had a larger portion of this dish compared to the others. Pineapple Martini: 10/10. This is the right mix of flavors and the Pineapple itself has a nice kick since it is marinated in alcohol. This drink can be dangerous and you'll feel the alcohol later! Lychee Martini: 7/10. Good and refreshing. Unfortunately, it does not compare to the Pineapple or Espresso Martinis. The service was quite attentive even through their busy night and often cleared our plates

Had a lovely evening at Monkeypod Kitchen. Beautiful ocean view! Our server Maka was an absolute delight! 5 star hospitality and customer service! Food good however entrees were cold by the time they arrived to our table. Maka was kind enough to give us dessert on the house that was delicious! Banana cream pie…YUM!!

Was pleasantry surprised at the overall experience being that it is a clothing store first! Food and the wine list were really good! After hearing about the coconut shrimp app, we had to have it, and enjoyed it! I was so happy to see blue crab/ avocado salad as a main entree and loved it. Don’t see it around much at all. We also had the Chilean sea bass and the ribs and they were excellent too. Service was outstanding and the drinks were innovative and delicious.

Merriman's Ward is definitely our first preferred spot for wino wine share get togethers. Food's fantastic and approachable and the corkage is still wino friendly compared with other places that have corkage charges set to discourage bringing special bottles to share with friends. We enjoyed a 3 hour commiseration over a bottle of Radio Silence! Servers were attentive but not intrusive--they let us do our wine share thing; very nice and appropriate wine glasses.
