Best German Restaurants in Munstertal

This was a beautiful restaurant in the hills of Freiburg. It was fun to get to with the funicular as well. The atmosphere and ambience were great. My husband and I were there with our 23 year old daughter from the US and we all agreed it was 5 stars for everything. The food was amazing. I need gluten free and they were very accommodating without sacrificing flavor or presentation. If there were 6 stars, we would give that rating to Ralf, our server. He was caring and attentive in just the right ways. We have already made reservations for the holidays when we return to Germany. The best dining experience we had during an 8 day stay in Germany, France and Switzerland!

We had a wonderful dinner in the bar area then enjoyed after dinner drinks on the roof top terrace overlooking the city. Service was excellent in both places and the food and drinks were delicious. Would definitely return!

Very nice restaurant and atmosphere, unfortunately food was a bit basic. Two small filets of trout served Müllerin style tasted good but came only with a few pieces of steamed potato as a side. The “Sauerbraten” from wild boar was extremely tough and dry. Sides for that dish (polenta slices and root vegetables) were good though and of adequate portion size.
