- MMaxNew York City •1 review4.0Dined 2 days agoGjelina was good - I had high hopes, as I hear such good things about the LA location. We were brought upstairs, which is a really nice space, although it was quite warm up there. The salads we ordered were both great — the arugula one with smoked trout, and another I can’t quite recall (the first one on the menu). The fennel was also really good, although the cauliflower was soggy and forgettable. As for the mains, it was again mixed. Lamb stew and chicken — excellent. Really superb. Thought the fish in the beans was not good, and the pappardelle was just ok (too sweet). A main problem was pacing — our dishes were brought out one after another, never giving us a break to breathe. By the time our last main was put on the table, we had barely finished our salads. Finally, the pizza was a major disappointment. Not good. Perhaps that’s just what LA pizza is like. But really, the food generally was quite good, and I expect some kinks when visiting a restaurant so early on. I look forward to returning!More infoGjelina - New YorkPrice: Moderate• Farm-to-table• East Village•4.5

After we got a good look at the menu, instead we had full main. Halibut for my wife and NY strip for me. Both were executed perfectly. My wife’s halibut was just perfect with that crispy skin you get when it’s perfect. Look we are from New Orleans so we know when fish is cooked well and a beure blanc is right. Our French ancestors were using that sauce before there was a USA. The steak was spot on medium rare with a tasty basque cider garlic sauce. Great job!!More infoSociety CafePrice: Expensive• American• Greenwich Village•4.6

She was in tuned to our needs, knowledge of the menu and drinks, and very charismatic. Our meal was delicious, I got the spaghetti and the addition of baratta cheese was fantastic. The atmosphere was the icing on the cake. I felt like we were in some far away land. The twinkle lights, the trees, it was magical.More infoSerra by Birreria - Eataly NYC FlatironPrice: Expensive• Italian• Gramercy Park•4.3

Hamachi crudo was great and I love the idea of local fresh ingredients. I’m glad we came- the halibut was a little too hard on the outside for me but the inside was nicely cooked. Brussels and potato purée were simply delicious. The brûlée cheesecake and cappuccino to finish helped power the 20 block walk home! It’s up there with the best of the restaurants I’ve been to. Prices were a little high but that’s what you expect in NYC.More infoCraftPrice: Very Expensive• American• Gramercy Park•4.7

Second we had the wedge salad which was very fresh and the spicy ranch was so good. Third we had the skirt steak with twice baked potato. Skirt steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The cranberry pear punch cocktail was great!! All around great atmosphere. Highly recommend!!More infoThe AldermanPrice: Moderate• American• Midtown West•4.2
