Best European Restaurants in Forest Hill / West Portal

The Matterhorn service, food and ambience have always been excellent. The food was right on target and nice selection of authentic choices. Highly recommended.

Great menu selections. Service went above and beyond suggesting I taste the two wines i was deciding between. Cozy atmosphere. Felt like a classic neighborhood San Francisco restaurant. Would definitely come back.

We had a delicious dinner at The Crumb on a Thursday night. The eclectic menu of small and shared plates was just what we were looking for. We shared the sweet potato rounds, mushroom empanadillas, and soba noodles (see eclectic…) and all were memorably mouthwatering. Highly recommend checking out this place in the old Liberty Cafe site.

We had a lovely experience, from being accommodated on our early arrival to having excellent suggestions regarding food and wine by our knowledgeable and charming server Flo. The atmosphere was warm and cozy and our food (including Escargots, Hanger steak, Coq au Vin, Floating Island) was delectable. I’m so glad we found L’Ardoise Bistro. We will make this a regular stop when visiting our daughter in San Francisco.

I met up with three friends who live in the neighborhood (I work there, but live elsewhere) and we truly had a wonderful experience! We had flights of wine (paired with chocolates), then ordered glasses of the ones we most enjoyed and also shared a delicious charcuterie board among us. The staff was incredibly kind, thoughtful & went above and beyond multiple times to make us feel welcome and to create a delightful experience, filling the evening with treats and the best service I've had in awhile. This is going to be a regular go-to for us! Thank you all so much for a fabulous evening!
