- VValerieSan Diego •2 reviews5.0Dined todayI’ve been to Monello several times for either lunch or dinner, and they are consistently good meals—mostly because of the home made pasta! I lived in Italy for almost 4 years, and always enjoyed fresh pasta that was readily available in so many small family shops. Monello is probably one of the few US restaurants that replicates that wonderful distinct taste and texture. - The drinks are very good. I particularly enjoy their Porto Nuovo, a delicious cocktail of Remy Martin VSOP, rye, Nolly Prat sweet vermouth, amaro and bitters. - The Cesar salad was a decadent delight of a fluffy top of shaved Parmesan that was so delicious with the crispy crunch of fresh romaine and creamy dressing that was perfectly coated with the right amount to enjoy with each bite and not taste soggy or too much. - The fiori di zucca, which is zucchini flowers stuffed with cheese and served with green aioli, was disappointing. While the flower was nicely cooked with the cheese, it was bland—even with the aioli. It could have used a pinch of salt, garlic or oregano. Unsure of the cheese filling…it was creamy in texture, but also bland. How the heck do you get bland with Italian cooking when it uses good fresh ingredients? - Back to the main dish—pasta! last night I had spaghetti di zafferano con gamberi, which is brass-di saffron spaghetti, shrimp, lemon zest in a Prosecco sauce. If you love a good shrimp and pasta dish, this is a delight with the creamy texture of the sauce that has a lemon zip with the subtle richness of saffron. The shrimp were done perfectly, with whole and chopped pieces folded into a cascade of homemade pasta. Heaven. - TAKE THE CANOLIS! We were served three small canolis that were crispy, crunchy and filled with smooth ricotta, chocolate bits, and candied fruit. So good with a cappuccino and limoncello to finish a great meal. Our server, Daniel, was a prince! Very knowledgeable about the menu dishes as well as the specials. Thank you for a great night!More infoMonelloPrice: Expensive• Italian• Little Italy•4.6
- RRichelleSan Diego •6 reviews5.0Dined 2 days agoI will be back! Everything was five star and fantastic. They offer a special price for valet parking if you are seeing a production at the Balboa Theater or The Civic Center which we were. Rolled into valet parking, greeted with smiles, welcoming service. Within minutes checking into the restaurant which is lovely and great ambiance. The host welcomed us and offered us a table of our choosing.Thank you Javier our server who recognized my open table reservation and made sure to mention he checked us in for open table points. We decided to sit at the bar. Fantastic call as great energy and modern decor. The bartender was very sweet, professional and fast with serving us delicious cocktails. Filthy martini heaven :)! My friend and I went with 3 shareables. The portions were huge! Spiced Cauliflower bowl, blistered shishito peppers, and IPA Rock Fish Tacos. Each one was delicious- just the right spice and flavors. I want to go back and try everything on the menu. Bravo Chef! After the theater performance, valet was fast to retrieve my car and gracious goodnight. THANK YOU crew at Bronze Bird and Marriott Bonvoy! What a gem in our city. PS --show your theater tickets and 20 your dinner bill!!!!!!!!More infoBronze BirdPrice: Moderate• Californian• Downtown•4.5
- SstevenSan Diego •1 review5.0Dined 4 days agoWonderful experience at Bleu Boheme yet again. This is one of our favorite San Diego restaurants for its fabulous French cuisine, ambience, and wait staff. Week nights in particular are our favorite dining evenings. Our waitress was outstanding and paired our meals so well with a bottle of Loudenne Le Chateau Medoc 2018.More infoBleu BohemePrice: Expensive• French• Kensington•4.8
