Since Marvin left 7Enoteca in Oakville and took the helm at Vela, we have wanted to get round to check it out. Fortunately today we were able to dine at Vela and it did not disappoint! (Other than Marvin not being in for todays service). The environment is stunning. The food is amazing. The service was attentive. (Many thanks Sandy, not only on the food advice, but the wine advice as well!) We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and look forward to returning to try the tasting menu at the counter. Everything was so fresh and what an amazing selection. From the chilled crab claws, jumbo shrimp, bay scallop salad and smoked applewood salmon to the hot traditional turkey with stuffing, citrus dill salmon, mussels in a creamy wine sauce... they were all to die for. And, then where to start with the dessert... the chocolate lava cakes, mousse in cocktail glasses, tiramisu and many tiny cakes... even the cookies were are all not only pleasing to the eye, but so tasty. I ate way too much, didn't try it all and it was soooo hard to choose what to eat as it all looked so good and did not disappoint. Oh, there was prime rib as well as a cheese tray, grilled vegetables and charcuterie board that looked amazing. It was a pleasure to meet and see and talk to the chef who overseeing his scrumptious food. Service was great, plates cleared right away. It was my first time here and I'll definitely be back.
