- CCraigBirmingham/West Midlands (county) •1 review5.0Dined 1 day agoGreat restaurant serving terrific food. Started with monkfish cheeks and followed up with a lamb roast dinner. A very generous portion and along with roasts and vegetables all cooked perfectly. Highly recommend. Good choice of wines but all expensive. £30 for what was a basic red the cheapest available.More infoThe Broad CharePrice: Expensive• British• Newcastle upon Tyne•4.8
- RRichardNewcastle and Northumberland •2 reviews5.0Dined 1 day agoWe had a lovely meal and experience with one notable exception. Each of the 4 people who ordered the Pork main course were disappointed with their meal. We had expected a roast pork meal. The offering was altogether too firm and the plate entirely brown. This was a big disappointment to half of our party. The other half of the party were entirely happy.More infoBlackfriars RestaurantPrice: Expensive• British• Newcastle upon Tyne•4.6

Although it was busy, the noise from other diners was not intrusive and there were plenty of staff to ensure you were well looked after. On that note, the staff are an absolute credit to the restaurant; friendly, chatty and smiley, whilst still being professional. They were attentive, without being intrusive, which is a real skill to master. Every member of staff from front of house reception, waiting staff, sommelier and bar staff, helped to make our visit a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Not sure why I haven't been here before, perhaps I thought it might be a little too formal but that's my mistake as it's not in the slightest bit stuffy, quite the opposite. I may have lost out on a wonderful place and some fantastic food over the years because of a misconception, but I plan on rectifying that error by going back as often as I can from now on.More info21Price: Expensive• British• Newcastle upon Tyne•4.8

It's just a shame that the bistro is no longer open for a "proper" meal on a Friday or Saturday as nowadays it's mostly pub grub, however you can get fish of the day or a steak but then there's nothing for a starter apart from soup, which has put us off going nowMore infoCity Bar and BistroPrice: Moderate• British• Newcastle upon Tyne•4.3
