Yates’s Manchester is in the city centre, between China town and the infamous and lively Canal Street’s gay village, just five minutes’ walk from Piccadilly train station and directly in front of the National Express coach station. It is very much a chameleon-style venue which operates in all situations, offering unrivalled sports viewing and fantastic food. Had been meaning to try Higher Ground for a while after popping in one night just for a few glasses of wine. Very very glad we decided to come back for their lunch menu. Extremely friendly and genuine staff, very helpful with the menu and the food was fantastic. I recommend the bar top, counter seating where you can watch the chefs in the open style kitchen. Fantastic place and will definitely be back again soon.

The service from Alec was superb, walked me thru the menu, which was perfect given I am from the states. Settled on a crumpet topped with mushrooms -- truly divine. So well prepared. I have the veggie entree and it was quite large and very delicious. I very rarely have dessert but I had the cherry crumble with clotted cream. Nice crunch and well prepared. A wonderful lunch. Highly recommend this restaurant for lunch.

Amazing as per usual. In most places when you have a discounted dish (we had the January special today) they end up giving you extremely small portions. Not here, it is exactly how you would expect. Excellent service as always.
