Best Barbecue Restaurants in Hyattsville

We woke up with a hankering for brunch, and, knowing Ruthie's can get crowded on the weekends, we checked to see if we could nab a reservation on line. Hurrah! Glad we did so, as there were several people when we arrived who had to wait for hours or try for a space at the bar. The breakfast did not dissapoint: we love the apple pancakes that aren't sweet or cloying but full of apple flavor. And they had a special pit beef & egg breakfast sandwich that was perfectly conceived and executed -- right down to the fresno chili on top and side salad with fennel to help cut the richness. Washed down with an excellent flat white. It was a great reminder of why we keep Ruthie's in the rotation.

Group of six had a great time together. We got the platter for our party which was a decent value and the food kept coming for 90 minutes. We enjoyed cooking over the fire slowly and talking in a place that wasn’t too loud.

Xavier was very gracious as he faced the challenge of serving us 4 older ladies with all our requests. We will come back and ask for him again. The manager (didn't get her name), but she was very helpful also. They seemed short staff but they were making it work.

Overall a great experience. Ambience was amazing. Food was exactly what you’d expect from an establishment with the name Texas and Barbecue in the name. Only downside is as the map went on and the establishment got a bit easier, the less we saw our server and they checked in. This in turn led to drinks remaining empty and us sitting waiting on them for a check. Don’t let this be the deciding point for you to decide if you enjoy this establishment. It truly is a great establishment and I look forward to patronizing it again on my next trip to the DC area.

Extremely high-quality barbecue, with a surprisingly robust and well thought out brunch menu. In fact, I’d argue this is one of the best brunches around. Definitely try the bacon.
