Caro Amico Italian Cafe is located in a venerable mid-century building on Barbur Boulevard, just 20 blocks south of downtown Portland.

We are back open for both dine-in and take-out, Tuesday through Sunday, 4:00-9:00PM.


Full of history, memories, & Frank Sinatra songs from the 60's, Caro Amico qualifies for 'traditional' in the City's treasured old family restaurants. Situated just below 'Pill Hill,' Caro offers a view of Portland's burgeoning high rise waterfront and, of course, the 21st Century Aerial Tram as it makes its way from the waterfront below to the University Hospitals and Offices above.

Our Deck is open during the spring and summer months for Outdoor Dining . Enjoy Happy Hour in our Cozy Bar. 4:00-6:00PM.

    We sat in the cozy bar and enjoyed great service and a wonderful meal of pasta Putanesca, salad and garlic bread with a nice bold Italian red wine. Perfect place to spend an evening with friends.

    This was our first visit to Caro Amico since their extensive remodel. The food and service were both quite good. We did find the dining room to be fairly noisy due to a number of large boisterous tables. It was hard to hold a conversation over our dinner on a Saturday night.

    Caro Amico has become our go-to Italian restaurant in Portland. Tasty pastas and pizzas, great drink menu, and very friendly staff.

    So happy it reopened. Went as a family. Great job with service. Good was very good. Missed the Bakers pizza. It’s our favorite but we went with individual dishes this time.

    Excellent service, food was very good and presented nicely. A bit overpriced. Only real complaint is the women’s restroom! I had to walk up two sets of stairs and I have very bad arthritis in both knees. One bathroom stall and a toilet that was not working correctly. Needs updating!
