Capo, with its modern Italian cuisine, offers a rustic yet elegant dining room with high-beamed ceilings, flickering candles, museum quality art collection, and a large Tuscan-style fireplace where the chefs prepare much of our menu.     Join us December 31st to ring in the New Year... Capo style! Our four course pre-fixe menu will showcase many of our most popular dishes. And this wouldn't be New Year's Eve at Capo without the option to select a menu featuring White Truffles from Alba. The White Truffle menu will be $295 per person. Only pre-fixe menus will be available on NYE, not our regular menu. Credit cards are taken only to secure the reservation. The pre-fixe menu price per person will be charged the night of the event. Cancellations within 48 hours of NYE, for any reason (travel, Covid, etc.) will be charged $50 per person.

                                                                                      The food was delicious; the wine was as well; staff were extremely nice and helpful; while I couldn’t hear others’ conversation, it was difficult at times hearing each other, and we sat next to each other. I guess the acoustics in the room could be a bit better. Overall a great experience; and it is certainly one of the priciest Italian restaurants we’ve been too and we’ve been to a great many here, the East coast and abroad. 🤷‍♀️

                                                                                      I’ll preface this by saying that we love to dine out and are very accustomed to high pricing at LA restaurants. While Capo had a nice vibe and the food was tasty, it was extremely overpriced. You can’t get a glass of wine for less than $35 a piece and it’s far from a generous (or even standard) pour. In fact, we had to say something when we saw the waiter pour the wine. because it was a bit unbelievable (offensive even). When asked to top it off, he looked at us bewildered and poured the tiniest splash, making zero difference. The value is not quite there with the exorbitant pricing. The experience was fine, but overall, it’s not very special. They also include a 20% service charge “to pay their employees a livable wage” AND ask for a tip on top, which really rubbed us the wrong way. While we support wait staff receiving a livable wage, that shouldn’t rest on the guests to cover in addition to the expectation that we tip on top of that. Assuming a 20% tip, that’s a 40% upcharge on an already extremely expensive meal, which is outrageous. Your money can go much further at other incredible Italian spots in the area.

                                                                                      Capo is hard to explain - it is housed in a totally non-descript building in Santa Monica, but once you walk past the velvet curtains, you enter a temple of cool. European vibe, with open hearth and eclectic art work. Then there’s the music - I don’t know another restaurant that can make Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin mix well with The Bee Gees and George Michael. Their wine list is exemplary. It is very expensive but totally worth it. Capo is our “go to” spot for special occasions when in LA.

I had an 8:15 reservation but an early morning flight he went out of his way to get us in at 6:30. The food was incredible along with cocktails and desserts . One dish had a lot of pepper and he changed it out for corn ravioli which was off the charts. Veal chop was the best. Will definitely visit Capo again on our next trip.
