The ambience is really nice. The guy filling up my water was very attentive, however the waitress (Olivia?) seemed annoyed with my presence, not helpful or friendly. She might’ve just been having a bad night. I started with the truffle Arancini, I was hoping to love it, but it was a little too salty for me and the mushrooms were very chewy, inedible. My salmon was presented well, unfortunately it was overcooked. It’s a huge portion! Their version of an espresso martini is delicious.

My wife and I spend probably 75% or more of our "TV time" on the food network channel. We love all the chefs, and when we travel, we always look for restaurants close to where we stay that are food network chef owned. This trip to NYC, for our anniversary, found us making reservations to eat at Alex's Butter midtown! We walked 6 blocks to get there in the snow and would do it again in a heartbeat! Service was impeccable, food was out of this world, and the atmosphere was exquisite. Just the right amount of light with all the rich dark wood. We could not have asked for a better 1st experience and will 1000% be revisiting Butter or trying and other restaurants that Alex owns. She may have this tough persona on television but there is brilliance and warmth within her to provide everything we experienced!!!

I used open table to search for a dining experience I’d love and unfortunately that was not the result. While OpenTable made it known for other establishments that they were having a prefixed menu on this day, with pricing and even some places stating what that menu included there was no mention of a prefixed menu for this establishment. Picking this restaurant because of that you can only imagine how disappointed I felt when we were seated and handed a prefixed menu. I do not want to be limited to a few items that the chef/staff feel will do well for this day. I want the full menu of a restaurant to make my own choices. It was not at all the experience I booked and I’m still heartbroken about it. I did not like any of the “appetizer” options and of course what I wanted off the normal menu was not available. The same can be said for the entree. I reluctantly decided on a lamb chop option. The flavor was good however it was not cooked to the wellness I requested. I truly wish I could’ve gotten the salmon I was eagerly anticipating. Thank fully the beignets were apart of the prefixed Valentine’s Day menu but the portion was only 2 where as I believe you get 3 on the normal menu. $135 per person and you don’t even have access to the full menu. All and all, the alcoholic beverage (purple rain) and the dessert were the best things I consumed but it did not make up from the missing information and disappointment caused by open table with making this reservation 💔

Truly a fantastic experience all around great vibes dim lighting but not dark, spacious and cozy, they even pump in the smell of a fireplace into the room, very nice touch. The food was off the charts! Portions are just enough to work your way through apps, entree and dessert without feeling heavy and bloated. Best meal we've had in a long while. We came in from the East end of Long Island and we will be back very soon!

There was a bit of a wait despite our reservation, but we were given a large booth afterward. Our server was prompt and extremely knowledgeable.
