Paddington’s latest hotspot is a gorgeous little French bistro situated above a bottleshop. Opened January 2024 on busy Oxford Street, Porcine’s brick fireplace, unique artwork and warm welcome help make it the cosiest new spot in Sydney. The signature offering is the canard à la pressé, a historic French dish where the meat is removed from a roast duck and the bones are crushed in a pressé. The blood and juices are then used to create the ‘sauce au sang’. At Porcine, ordering this dish finished and pressed at your table is a truly one-of-a-kind experience. Served at set times throughout the evening for groups of two to four diners, preorder is required. The rest of the menu changes daily, but expect unique dishes like foie gras chantilly, mango and ocean trout served with tiger prawns and cauliflower. For dessert enjoy classic flavours with a chocolate tarte served with vanilla ice cream and caramel or opt for a seasonal fruit dish like Armagnac cherries with fig leaf custard.
