   Disappointing! Had a reservation and the guy at the front had me sit outside the restaurant. 20 minutes went by and no one came and got us so we left.

   Absolutely horrible. Not only was the service and food subpar, but the floors were disgusting. There was salad everywhere. They messed up so many orders at our table. We just wanted to get out and the manager talks to you like you’re an idiot. This won’t set the tone for our trip so don’t let it ruin yours

   I feel bad even leaving this review because it was abundantly clear how understaffed they were, but we had a TERRIBLE experience. We had a 7:00 reservation. We weren’t sat until almost 8:00. We waited at the bar until our table was ready. The bar was covered in dirty glasses & dirty dishes & dirty server trays. The poor bartender was alone & overwhelmed. When we were sat, the server looked incredibly nervous. He knew we were about to have a terrible experience. The hibachi chef came out visibly angry & irritated with our server. He was rude & didn’t listen to what we wanted. He just mumbled a bunch of random things at us & kept dropping his hibachi knives on the table. We ordered edamame but never received it. I tried to order a glass of wine before the hibachi chef was even done cooking our food, and they told me the bar was closed. The restaurant was full but the bar was closed? And then they charged me $22 for a glass of Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. $22?! That’s pure insanity.

   On Friday 21st of March, I scheduled a reservation for 2 at the Mall of America location. On Saturday I arrived at Benihanna at 1:45 PM with my plus one. My reservation was for 2 PM. The front desk associate said to wait until 2 PM and that is when she can check us in. I stood outside for 15+ minutes. The time went by and I returned inside the restaurant at the front desk and asked about my reservation she said they'll get back to me shortly. I stood there waiting for 5-6 minutes, remembering a reservation was made. A few persons came after me and were already appointed a table. Now the associate appointed myself along with a family of 4-6 at a table. My first thought was that she would take the family to their table and then we'll go to ours. NO! She offered us to sit with a random family, I felt offended. First of all, I do not want to intrude on these people's evening and secondly, I had booked a reservation for 2 the previous day. So why was it that I couldn't be seated at my table? NO REASON! I asked the associate if there was any other available table or the bar her response was no. I explained to her that we had booked a reservation at the bar. Come to find out they don't accept reservations at the bar online! Now I had already booked it. This was my FIRST and will be my LAST time here. I NEVER leave reviews but today's service was atrocious not even a CHILD would accept it.

   Fabulous experience! Steak, chicken and shrimp was melted in your mouth and full of flavor. Frozen cocktails and beer were amazing! The staff was very happy to accommodate my dairy allergy and cooked my food off to the side of the grill or gave me my portion before putting real butter on the food. I so very much appreciated that and that in itself made my night and my tummy very happy! Guillermo was our chef. Again...outstanding show, awesome personality and food cooked to perfection! Jack was our server. Great whenever we had questions. Awesome personality. Excellent through and through and was on top of any and all needs we and the other guests at our table had!

   We had an almost $35 service charge for our table on top of our food and drink prices and tax. This is illegal in MN starting January 1, 2025. When we stated this we were told it was for the experience. Again I said that should be reflected in the prices not as a charge but had to pay it anyway.

    Good meal but menu was more complicated than other hibachi restaurants we’ve been too. More expensive too. The veggies were just onions, mushrooms and zucchini all served separately instead of a nice serving of mixed veggies to go with your whole meal. Made the value seem not as great, in my opinion.
