Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Atlantic's Edge offers breathtaking ocean views and a beautiful setting at Cheeca Lodge. Paid an outrageous price for a meal where I got the wrong salad, wrong entree and wrong drink. Thank god for great entertainment.

We had reservations at 7:30 but didn’t sit until 8:15. Sat at a big circle table which was great! Great server and food! Only problem was the unruly children running around restaurant if only people would parent their kids so as to not ruin the experience for the rest of the diners.

I wanted to LOVE this restaurant SO much, since I had not been to the Cheeka Lodge in 44 years since coming w/ my family as a child. Here is what was frustrating. 1). Arrived for our 8:30pm ressies (albeit 5 min late) and there was lots of confusion w/ the hostess who did not have a table for us. Asked if we wanted to sit inside, yet we had requested outside on open table. She left for 10 min to scramble to clear off a table outside. Took more than 15 minutes to get seated. 2). Once seated, we waited 20 minutes before any server walking by acknowledged our existence. Eventually an unfriendly guy pouring water in our glasses arrived. Asked if he was our server & if we could put orders in and he did not understand what I was asking. He left and we waited another 10 minutes before I went back up to host stand to ask if she could sent over our server. She apologized & said they were busy tonight, despite knowing how many ressies they had (unless they accepted a lot of walk in’s). 3). Eventually server arrived w/ no apologies for the long 25-30 minute delay. She was friendly enough, but took a long time to even bring our coke & iced tea. By this time it was 9pm & most tables had cleared out.) 4). It was cold/windy so we asked if they could turn on heaters like other tables had on. We (no exaggeration) asked our server, then asked another server who dropped off bread & she said she would find staff to turn them on, bc she didn’t know how. When nobody arrived to turn heat on even 15 minutes later, we asked a 3rd person who worked the hostess stand who walked by. She said some of the outdoor heaters did not work. She offered for us to move tables to a heater on. We asked if could first see if our heater worked. She said she would but then casually went off and began talking to another table & never came back. Took over 1 hour for food to arrive. SLOW SERVICE. Food good, but my fish arrived cold. Pricy, poor service for fine dining. Al a la carte, & super small sides!😞

The food was disappointing for $110 per person. Staff could not wait to leave. The venue is gorgeous.so this place could definitely be run better. Food is a simple fix by bringing in a great chef and change the menu.

This was a terribly disappointing dining experience. We had reservations for Christmas night. The website didn't mention that Christmas night there was nothing available except their $110/person buffet. It was a very elaborate buffet, with everything from salads to raw seafoods, several entrees, such as cut-to-order prime rib (the only good offering, by the way), mahi-mahi, ham. Several sides, such as mashed potatoes and green beans. Many desserts, which looked amazing, but didn't have much flavor. Also some pasta entrees, which we didn't try. My non-alcoholic Cosmo was weak and warm. The "server" was inattentive. Most of the buffet items looked so delicious, but honestly had little flavor, and items meant to be hot were luke warm. We ended up paying about $360, with tip, for two people for one of the worst dinners. The atmosphere was lovely. It turns out the restaurant is located at the Cheeca Lodge & Spa Resort in Islamorada, Florida. We weren't staying there, but at another resort nearby. If we could have a "do-over" we would have left when we discovered that only the buffet was available, but we had just arrived after a full day of travel, so didn't feel like trying to find another restaurant that was open on Christmas. Beware! Snooty location. Pretty package, but inside the wrapping there was nothing!
