Amuse is a seasonal, farm to table driven restaurant, located on the third floor of the museum. Whether you are dining in our main dining room, full-service bar, or our private dining room, you will be able to take in sweeping views of the Robins Sculpture Garden and the museum’s Cochrane Atrium. Our team works diligently to provide a menu that is directly inspired by the art-filled surroundings, current exhibitions, and seasonality while also carefully selecting only the finest ingredients from local vendors, artisans, and farmers. Just a friendly reminder that the museum does not allow balloons, confetti, glitter, plants potted with soil, and candles with open flames. If a date and time you seek for a reservation appears to be full, please give us a call so we can see what other times might be available.

We brought our mini dach puppy and someone complained- though she made no noise. She alerts my wife when she needs to take diabetes meds but technically is not a certified service dog. Technically yes, we had no papers for her but security asked us to leave. We understand she violated rules and left as requested but we have had early dinner there for 4 years and spent hundreds of dollars over the years, not to mention today in the gift shop. A little holiday spirit would have gone a long way and likely will not renew our membership.

It had become a family tradition for my daughter, husband and me to visit Amuse on Christmas Eve. It had also been a few years since we’d been able to time it right! This year we made a plan and I am so glad we did. The food and service were both outstanding! Alex took care of us from start - with our sparkling holiday cocktails - through lunch with scallops, oysters, a strip steak, and the best beets, brussel sprouts, and parsnips - until dessert, an upside down pear and pomegranate cake. We won’t wait as long before we go back again!

Everyone in Richmond needs to remember this wonderful restaurant inside the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts - it's a delight! The service is wonderful and the food is first rate. It's very worth a visit - and you get to wander the beautiful galleries before or after. It's a real gem and sometimes we forget about it. I have promised myself I will become a regular.

As always dinner at Amuse was absolutely delicious. My sister & I shared the Fried Oyster appetizer & we ordered the Scallops & the Mushroom Cassoulet. The appetizer was flavorful & cooked perfectly. The entrees were both a wonderful combination of complimentary flavors. The ambience was pretty quiet for a Thursday evening & the service was courteous & welcoming. As always it is a pleasure to dine at Amuse.

As usual a first-rate experience. We were at the VMFA for a show of Southern American photography as well as another temporary exhibit of photographers of the Hungarian diaspora. Two great shows. We are fairly regularly diners at Amuse. It far outpaces the usual museum restaurant fare. It's the best lunchtime dining option in the museum district. It was busier than usual, as lots of groups seemed to be having their holiday luncheon there. It didn't affect the service, but it was LOUD, until a couple of larger parties left. The menu changes seasonally. I had the pickle pot and the farmer's salad bowl. My wife had the butternut squash soup and the mushroom cassoulet. All were excellent. I tried a bite of my wife's cassoulet. REALLY tasty.

Wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion. Every staff member from hostess to waiter helped to make our birthday celebration enjoyable. The food was SPECTACULAR. We tried two different appetizers, sweet potato and a beets dish and loved each one. We also tried the butternut squash soup and the braised beef rib and they were excellent. I highly recommend trying this place!
